On Our Own by Bobby Brown was released on June 22, 1989, with On Our Own (Without Rap) as the B side. It was a single from the Ghostbusters II soundtrack.

The song held the No. 2 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks. It reached No. 1 on the Billboard R&B Chart. In the United Kingdom, it peaked at No. 4 on the UK Singles Chart.

The music video for On Our Own was filmed in New York City and  features several celebrity guest appearances, including Christopher Reeve, Doug E. Fresh, Joey and Marky Ramone, Iman, and Donald Trump.
