These Dreams by Heart was released on January 18, 1986, with All Eyes as the B side. It was the third single from the band’s self-titled eighth studio album. It was the first Heart single on which Nancy Wilson performed lead vocals instead of her sister Ann.
These Dreams was Heart’s first single to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the third of four U.S. Top 10 singles from the Heart album. The others were Never, Nothin’ At All, and What About Love.
On the album, the song is dedicated to Nancy’s good friend Sharon Hess, who died from leukemia shortly before the release of the song. Check out the songfacts.com entry on These Dreams for more information on the song and Nancy and Sharon’s friendship.
