I Love Rock ‘n Roll by Joan Jett & the Blackhearts was released January 19, 1982, with You Don’t Know What You’ve Got as the B side. It was a single from Jett’s second studio album of the same name.
I Love Rock ‘n Roll held the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for seven weeks. It was also a No. 1 hit in several other countries, including Australia and Canada. It reached No. 4 on the UK Singles Chart.
Jett’s version is a cover of the 1975 single by the Arrows. She originally recorded the song in 1979 with Steve Jones and Paul Cook of the Sex Pistols. The 1979 version was released on Vertigo records as the B side to You Don’t Own Me.
