Eyes Without a Face by Billy Idol was released on May 29, 1984, with Blue Highway as the B side. It was a single from Idol’s second album, Rebel Yell.
The title of the song is taken from the English title of Georges Franju’s 1960 film Les yeux sans visage. Idol’s then-girlfriend Perri Lister provided vocals on the song’s background chorus, singing Eyes Without a Face in French.
The song reached No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Idol’s first Top 10 hit in the United States. It peaked at No. 18 in the United Kingdom.
