Never Surrender was released on June 8, 1985, with Water from the Moon as the B side. It was a single from Hart’s second album, Boy in the Box.

The song reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, Hart’s highest charting single in the United States.  In his native Canada, it held the top spot on the Top Singles chart for four weeks.
