Let’s Go Crazy by Prince and the Revolution was released on July 18, 1984, with Erotic City as the B side. It was the opening track on both the album and the film Purple Rain.

The song was Prince’s second No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 (after When Doves Cry). It reached No. 7 on the UK Singles chart.

Also released today in the 1980s: Kokomo by the Beach Boys on July 18, 1988.
