Separate Ways (Worlds Apart) by Journey was released January 5, 1983, with Frontiers as the B side. It was a single from the band’s eighth studio album Frontiers.

The song peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100, where it remained for six weeks. It was No. 1 for four weeks on the Top Tracks chart.
The music video for Separate Ways was the band’s first attempt at a choreographed video, having used live performance clips for previous videos, and it was one that was met with some criticism. In the book I Want My MTV: The Uncensored Story of the Music Video Revolution, keyboardist Jonathan Cain talks about the video: “I’m at a loss to explain that video,” says Cain. “I will never live down those air keyboards. No matter what else I’ve done in my career, sooner or later people find a way to ask me about the ‘Separate Ways’ video.”
