Only the Young by Journey was released January 8, 1985, with I’ll Fall in Love Again by Sammy Hagar as the B side. Originally intended for Journey’s Frontiers album but pulled at the last minute, the song eventually appeared on the soundtrack for the movie Vision Quest.

The song reached No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 3 on the Mainstream Rock chart.

Through the Make a Wish Foundation, Journey met a 16-year-old fan who was suffering from cystic fibrosis and played Only the Young for him before the song’s release.
