The song was a No. 1 hit in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. When it hit No. 1, Starship’s Grace Slick, at age 47, became the oldest woman to have a No. 1 single in the United States. (That record was later broken by Cher at age 52 with the single Believe.)
