80s Song of the Day: Mr. Roboto by Styx

Mr. Roboto by Styx was released on February 11, 1983, with Snowblind as the B side. It was a single from the band’s eleventh studio album, Kilroy Was Here. Snowblind had appeared on Styx’s previous album, Paradise Theatre.

Mr. Roboto reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States. In the band’s native Canada, it was a No. 1 hit.

Some of the lyrics of Mr. Roboto are in Japanese, including the line in the chorus, “Dōmo arigatō, Mr. Roboto,” which translates to “Thank you very much, Mr. Robot.”
