Easy Lover by Philip Bailey and Phil Collins was released in the United Kingdom on February 25, 1985, with Woman as the B side. It was a single from Bailey’s solo album Chinese Walls, which Collins produced.

easy-frontThe song reached No. 1 in several countries worldwide, including Canada, the Netherlands, Ireland, and the United Kingdom. In the U.K., it held the top spot for four weeks.

In the United States, Easy Lover reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was denied the top spot for two weeks by Foreigner’s I Want to Know What Love Is.

The song won an MTV Video Music Award for Best Overall Performance in a Video in 1985, and was nominated for a Grammy for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocals in 1986.
