Heaven by Bryan Adams was released on April 9, 1985, with a live version of the song as the B side. The song originally appeared on the 1983 soundtrack for the movie A Night in Heaven, but was not released as a single at that time. It was later released as a single from Adams’ fourth studio album, Reckless.
Heaven reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was Adams’ first No. 1 hit single. It reached No. 11 in Adams’ native Canada and No. 38 in the United Kingdom.
The song was written while Adams served as the opening act on Journey’s Frontiers tour. It was heavily influenced by Journey’s single Faithfully and features Journey’s drummer Steve Smith on the track.
